I found the thin paper sheet and hard plastic covering on the bed quite uncomfortable and somewhat impersonal. While I understand these may be used for hygiene and cleaning purposes, it may be worth considering alternatives such as towels or a light cloth covering to make the experience more comfortable for clients. Courtesy and discretion should always be a priority. As clients, we understand that professionals in this field are experienced and have “seen it all.” However, from the client’s perspective, we are often in a vulnerable position while bearing ourselves during treatments. Small gestures that prioritise privacy and dignity can make a significant difference. For example, when asking clients to turn over or adjust their position, it would be appreciated if a towel could be held up to maintain coverage, along with clear but discreet instructions on how to move. It can be difficult for clients to hold a towel for modesty while also trying to shift their body and keep the thin paper sheet in place. Additionally, there seemed to be very little privacy between treatment rooms, as conversations and treatments from other rooms could be clearly heard. Greater sound privacy would help ensure a more comfortable and discreet environment for all clients.
