Hallo Sfumato team! While I loved Jasmine who looked after me, and found the salon amazingly friendly and professional, unfortunately I wasn't happy with the result once I got home. Under the bright lights at the end of my session (on Friday 15 July) I tried to convince myself my hair had the striking blond highlights I'd asked for, but deep down I knew it didn't! After three hours in the chair I didn't have the heart to say anything to Jasmine. She's a really lovely lady and a very talented professional but somehow what I wanted didn't come off. Talking to Jasmine at the beginning of my session, I had said I wanted to look noticeably blonder. I said this several times during our chat and even made a couple of jokes that I hoped I wasn't sounding like a broken record. She had explained to me that going full-on blonde would require a big commitment to return to the salon after six weeks for the re-growth and I guess she talked me out of going full-on blonde. HOWEVER I did show her a couple of magazine images showing women with striking blonde highlights and again repeating that I wanted to look significantly different from my current overall 'dirty blonde' shade. I believe Jasmine could have done something with balayage or similar to create truly blond highlights without causing too much of a problem in terms of later re-growth around the part-line. Having agreed to not go fully blond, I had said several times that I wanted visibly blond highlights, particularly around my face. When Jasmine showed me the shades she was planning to use I did say "that one looks pretty dark" for the undertone shade. But after her explanation, and seeing that she was also using a creamy light shade of blonde, I had faith that we'd arrive at the desired effect. We had to use toner twice as Jasmine believed the first toner was too 'ash' - so off to the sink we went for a second go. I wasn't too worried about this... Anyway, possibly the lighter highlights she did were too fine, but when I cam out, my partner couldn't even tell I'd had anything done! And looking at myself in my bathroom mirror, my hair actually looked a tad darker than it had before! There were 'highlights' but these were super subtle and not obviously blonde. Unfortunately I was disappointed to have spent most of the afternoon in the chair and over $200 to look pretty much the same (except for slightly improved parting line, glossier hair and a nice blow dry) as I had when I walked in. I phoned the salon the next day to politely explain that I hadn't been too happy with my results and would like a few more highlights. The hint that I'd been unhappy with my results and was wondering if anything could be done to fix it was ignored by the gentleman I spoke to. I know some salons will actually do a re-work if customers aren't happy and while I wouldn't expect this necessarily, it would have been good if he'd shown more interest in understanding why I wasn't happy with my experience. He simply gave me a list of appointment times and left it at that.
